Varanger, Norway

Varanger, in Norway's far northeast, is widely regarded as one of Europe's premier destinations for bird photography. Visiting in June coincides with the peak of the short breeding season, when continuous daylight allows long hours in the field and birds are at their most active. The region's unique combination of seabird colonies, coastal wetlands, tundra and birch woodland supports an exceptional richness in wildlife and birdlife in particular.
